How to convert TIFF to JPG
- 1
Add TIFF files
Drop .tif or .tiff files. A multi-page TIFF is one file with several pages inside.
- 2
Set JPG quality
92 is a strong default. Lower it if the scan is large and a smaller JPG is more useful than extra detail.
- 3
Download
One page saves as a single JPG. Several pages, or several files, save as a ZIP named by page number.
Good to know
TIFF is a container, not one picture format. Scanners use it for multi-page documents. Some cameras and design apps save 16-bit or oddly compressed TIFFs that a phone or browser will not open. A JPG is the file most people can actually view.
This page decodes classic 8-bit TIFF pages in your browser and writes a JPG for each page. The decoder is loaded only when you convert, and only on this page. A 16-bit file, a BigTIFF, or a compression this decoder cannot read is named in an error instead of freezing the tab.
Frequently asked questions
Why will a TIFF not open on my phone or in the browser?
Many phones and browsers do not include a TIFF decoder. A multi-page or 16-bit TIFF is even less likely to open. A JPG of each page is the practical copy.
Are all pages of a multi-page TIFF converted?
Yes, for a standard 8-bit TIFF. Each page becomes its own JPG, and more than one page downloads as a ZIP.
What happens with a 16-bit TIFF?
The page says that file uses 16-bit samples and stops, instead of producing a broken picture or crashing. Export an 8-bit TIFF or a JPG from the app that created it.
Is the TIFF uploaded to be converted?
No. Decoding runs in your browser. The decoder is fetched only on this page, when a conversion starts.
