How to convert JFIF to JPG

  1. 1

Add JFIF, JPEG, or JPE files

Drop .jfif, .jpeg, .jpe, or .jpg files. Other types are skipped. Each file is checked for a real JPEG header.

  2. 2

    Save as JPG

The original bytes are copied. There is no quality slider, because nothing is recompressed.

  3. 3

    Download

One file saves as a .jpg. Two or more files save as a ZIP of .jpg files.

Good to know

A JFIF file is already a JPEG. The extension is what trips people up: a browser saved the picture as .jfif, or a camera wrote .jpeg or .jpe, and a form only accepts .jpg. The picture data does not need to be decoded and written again.

This page copies the bytes and downloads them as .jpg. That is a JPEG to JPG rename for .jpeg and .jpe files too. Because the file is not recompressed, the image is unchanged, and any metadata already inside the JPEG stays. Several files download as one ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Is JFIF a different kind of image from JPG?

No. JFIF is the usual way JPEG data is packaged. The file is a JPEG that happens to be named .jfif. Changing it to .jpg does not change the picture.

Will converting JFIF to JPG reduce quality?

Not on this page. The JPEG bytes are copied as-is. Use Compress image afterward if you want a smaller file and can accept a new encode.

Does JPEG to JPG work for .jpeg and .jpe?

Yes. Those extensions are the same JPEG data with a different name. The download is a .jpg copy of the same bytes.

Is location data removed?

No. A byte-for-byte copy keeps whatever was already in the JPEG, including camera data. Recompress the JPG if you need that stripped.
