How to merge PDF files

  1. 1

    Add at least two PDFs

Drag them in or choose them. A single PDF does not need merging.

  2. 2

    Set the order

Use Up and Down, or drag a row. The page count appears after each file is read locally.

  3. 3

    Download one PDF

The merged file is named toolspruce-merged.pdf unless you rename it after download.

Good to know

Drop two or more PDFs, put them in order, and download one document. Page counts show up next to each file so you can see what you are combining.

Pages are copied into a new PDF on this device. Some advanced features, such as passwords, signatures, and certain form fields, do not carry over. Encrypted files are skipped with an explanation.

Frequently asked questions

Are the PDFs uploaded to be merged?

No. The pages are copied in your browser with pdf-lib. ToolSpruce does not receive the documents.

Will bookmarks and form fields survive?

Page content is copied. Passwords cannot be opened. Signatures and some interactive form fields may be dropped. Check the result before you rely on it.

Can I merge a PDF that asks for a password?

No. Remove the password first. ToolSpruce does not ask you to type passwords into the page.

How many files can I merge?

Up to 100 files, within whatever memory your browser has. Very large documents can fail even if the count is small.
