Good to know

PNG is useful when you want a lossless-looking export of an iPhone photo for editing, or when a tool rejects both HEIC and JPG. The file will be larger than the HEIC.

Decoding still happens entirely on this device with the same libheif WebAssembly decoder as the JPG converter. It loads only when you convert, not on the rest of the site.

Yes. The photo is decoded in your browser. ToolSpruce never receives the file.

Why is the PNG so much bigger?

HEIC is a compact camera format. PNG stores pixels without that kind of photographic compression. Convert to JPG if size matters more than a PNG.

Can I convert HEIC to PNG and then resize?

Yes. Download the PNG and open it in Resize image, which also stays on your device.

Which HEIC files work?

Ordinary iPhone photos do. If a file uses an unusual profile, that file is marked as failed and the rest of the batch continues.
